When I am lost and on my own,
When I’m all alone,
When shadows fall inside of me,
When all I want is to be free.
When faith and hope are far from home,
When love is like a bird that’s flown,

You reach for me,

You take my heart and soften me.
You set me free.

When light is lost beneath the hill,
When life’s worth less than dollar bills
When truth and justice flee from me,
When the dark is all I see.
When shadows hold me by the neck,
When I can’t breathe.
