It was Thanksgiving Day morning. As was my custom I was sat in my office mentally going through the year and thinking of all those people that had made a difference. One by one I called them and let them know how grateful I was for them and what a difference they’d made to me.

God, I miss the hate!
Oddly enough one of the things I miss from my life in America is the hate mail. There were at least a couple of letters or emails every week. Mostly vitriol about damnation and hell, quoting scriptures in condemnation, telling me that I was a blind pastor leading a blind congregation like lemmings off a cliff. Lots of bits underlined in red. Once or twice I would get one from my dad. Nice family.

Riding the train through India’s rural landscape I always made sure I had a few rupees or sweets to give away. As the train passed slowly through the towns and villages children would come out to meet us. They would run alongside the train, hands outstretched, hoping for a gift. Money, chocolate, anything really.

This is marriage, son.
Son, before you get married let me share with you what I’ve learned. I don’t think God make male and female so one could own the other, God made male and female equal. It doesn’t matter whether you marry someone of the opposite sex or someone of the same sex, you must treat your partner as your equal. No more, no less.
